CONFIDENTIALITY

CONFIDENTIALITY OF CONTRACT RESEARCH

Mycoplasma Experience is an independent company providing highly specialised services to International Organisations.

As the number of facilities capable of supplying such a specialised service is limited there will, inevitably, be occasions when competing companies require our attention.

The maintaining of confidentiality of results is recognised as essential for continued confidence and, unless research is published, we eschew release of a client base. Should possible conflicts of interest between companies arise, or between Mycoplasma Experience and clients, this will be drawn to the attention of the client(s).

Where information from a study requires release to a third party, the client will have sight of the material to be released for prior approval.

The above approach is irrespective of any specific Confidentiality Agreement.

CONFIDENTIALITY OF SENSITIVE INFORMATION

On occasion, the testing of cell culture samples, vaccine samples or veterinary samples may detect the presence of mycoplasmas or particular pathogens.

Such information is regarded as confidential to the client supplying the samples and, because cell-culture contamination events can occur at any time, the client base remains confidential.

CONFIDENTIALITY OF SUPPLIED MATERIAL

In common with other cell-cultures, it is necessary to test unique cell cultures on a routine basis for the absence of mycoplasmas.

Cell-culture work is not carried out routinely in our laboratories except for Vero cell cultures which are infrequently bought in and maintained briefly for the preparation of M. hyorhinis ATCC 29052 QC test inocula.

Incoming cell-cultures for testing are frozen at -70°C after inoculation into mycoplasma media and autoclaved before discard when testing is complete.

To avoid identification of cell-cultures, the coding of samples is encouraged.

CONFIDENTIALITY OF RECEIVED, OR ISOLATED, MYCOPLASMA STRAINS

For the execution of Contract Research studies, the receipt of mycoplasma strains from other laboratories, or the isolation of strains from clinical or veterinary material in our laboratories, may be necessary.

Cultures obtained for such studies remain the property of the client on whose behalf the isolates were obtained. The mycoplasma cultures are stored in an alarmed -70°C freezer and are available for transfer on request.
